Square UpsABOUT OUR SQUARES Our "Easy Read" Square ups have some great features you will love! First, over the years we have come to realize that clear acrylic rulers and tools often cast a dark shadow along the edge which can have an impact on the accuracy. For that reason, ours are made from Fluorescent Green Acrylic which using the light in the room will naturally light up the edge for more accurate marking and cutting. Next, all the markings are "Laser Etched or Engraved" into the acrylic so the lines and marks can never rub off. This also helps with slipping but for the best ruler "Grip" we recommend the affordable Grip Dots. They provide extra "grip without raising your tools off the fabric so you aren't marking or cutting under the tool. It takes very few dots per tool for great grip so an affordable package goes a long way! And. our best feature of all, our Square Ups eliminate a line at every 1/8" which, with so many lines often make it difficult to see the line you actually need and can create mistakes. By marking only at every 1/2" it eliminates a lot of the "Line Clutter" while still giving you marks you need for adding 1/4" seam allowance all the way around your block. HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE We are often asked "How do I know what size to purchase?" The rule of thumb is, if you are buying your first square up, get the largest one your budget will allow. For example if that is our largest 13 1/2" you not only have that size but all the sizes below that! So you can cut 1" squares up to 13 1/2" squares with one tool. Later you may find that you use a particular size often and can add to your collection! I tend to use the 5 1/2" and 10 1/2" for a lot of my projects! | ||||||||||||
